Protests against Chinese human rights abuse continue
Filed Under International Politics, Taking Action
The recent trend of human rights abuse is nothing new, so far the outcome of protests against their abuse has seen:
- Steven Spielburg pull out from being artistic adviser to the Olympic games opening and closing ceremonies.
- Several European politicians considering taking their nations out of the games and boycotting the event.
- Thailand’s six torch bearers dropping out from the torch run.
Hopefully this is just the start, China has for centuries committed acts of crime upon their citizens. Those who dissent from the Chinese Communist Party’s view are either gaoled or killed. Falun Dafa/Falun Gong practitioners /followers have led the same sentence, either gaol or death.
China has now attempted to take upon itself global respect by holding the Olympic games, in return the IOC has asked them to clean up their human rights abuse and to not restrict the media.
China is still now allowing media or foreigners into Tibet, a region which they consider to be part of greater China.
I think it would be shameful to be a competitor in the upcoming Olympics, and I urge all competitors that if you attend and compete then you should on reception of the medal make an active protest against the deaths of Chinese and Tibetans that continues to happen today.
As much as I hate the mainland Chinese, it is the PRC government that has enslaved the Chinese people.
AS with all civilisations, the elite have all the power and it is the case here, in Majorca, in Australia or in China. We have perceived freedoms, but there are underlying laws which preclude us from doing alot of things.
At the end of the day, as long as I get my things done without major hurdles then I’m satisfied. Not fussed if I get monitored, or recorded or which party affiliations I might have.
