In his first Australian speech since his 2007 election defeat John Howard will address Brisbane Liberal party members and others later this month. During his 2007 election campaign a seat at such an occasion would set you back $10,000, even though inflation is up it will now only cost you $250 (or $150 for Liberal party members).

Given the grand defeat Howard received in November 2007, not just losing the election but losing his seat and dropping the party popularity to single figure numbers it’s difficult to see how he can rally the troops.

I figure it’s taken him five or so months to get the courage to actually face up to the Liberal party audience. Since the election we’ve seen Liberal party bickering having taken place not only in the Queensland Liberals but also in New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia branches of the Liberal party.

I’m sure many wouldn’t even want to attend the dinner, even if it is at 1.5% of the cost of doing the same six months ago.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the Brisbane gig on April 14, Howard will be holding another in NSW soon after the Brisbane event.
